Sanity Theorist One of the very few groove metal albums I truly find atmospheric, very thick rhythms with a fantastic concept/folk melodies! Brief moments even delve into industrial inspired parts, because French metal is always a journey. Favorite track: 09. Part III Expansion : We-War.

ANTHILL (français):
Anthill est un concept album en quatre mouvements morcelés en 13 plages. Un ensemble d’instruments traditionnels et des ambiances world music font partie prenante du projet : Vielle à roue, Sitar, percus africaines et indiennes, flûtes japonaises etc… Le concept tourne autour de la vie d’une fourmilière, en allant de son réveil au printemps, en passant par des guerres d’expansion, et s’achève, lors d’une révolution, avec l’arrivée de l’hiver.

Grorr a emprunté des techniques de compositions à la musique classique et au cinéma en « story boardant » son histoire, afin que la narration musicale soit aussi expressive que les textes, en jouant sur les thèmes et leurs variations, en multipliant les phases « rentre dedans » et les accalmies.

Cela donne au final 45 minutes de musique cohérente, aux nombreuses ambiances, et dont l’histoire, autant que la musique, peuvent tourner dans une boucle sans fin.

ANTHILL (english):
Anthill is a four-parts album including 13 tracks. Introducing an amazing bunch of traditional music instruments and world music ambiences, using Sitar, Indian and African percussions, Hurdy-Gurdy, Japanese flute... GRORR is narrating the whole story of the Anthill from the awakening at Spring days, through expansion wars, till the end in a Revolution as winter's coming.

GRORR borrowed composition processes to both Classical music and Movies by story-boarding their tale. This so the music becomes as narrative as vocals, playing on themes and variations, alternating storms and calm.

All of that makes "ANTHILL" a 45 minutes and coherent opus with several ambiences in which, both lyrics and music, could be repeated as an endless loop.

An amazing band. Found them from their new album dundens last flight and found their other music. They incorporate many different unconventional instruments into the music which is great and i think more bands should do more.
